Wolverine & Friends

Man I love holidays in New York! Today we got out of work early to "prepare for the holiday weekend." But first, it started off with a catered picnic lunch in the office, complete with little sandwiches, watermelon and sand shovels for the pasta salads. It was fun. We got out of work at 3:30 (the latest of all the other interns, meaning NYC starts early!).

Afterwards, I met up with Lyndsey to do some quick shopping around. I went inside the world's largest Macy's, also famous for its Thanksgiving Day Parade. It was 8 stories and had 10 restaurants in it. It covers and entire city block and is HUGE!!! Outside I found this sign and thought of you, Dad. How true it is. :o)

We went back to the I-House to get ready for our Friday night plans--XMen 3. We started off by making up for last night's lack of celebration dinner and went to Spice (Thai restaurant) on the Northeast side of town. We've been to the one near NYU before but it's always packed. This other branch had no wait and was a lot quieter and calmer. Afterwards we went for ice cream at Maggie Moo's and headed to Grand Central Station to get in the right direction. We decided to walk to Times Square instead, where the movie was playing. On our way, we walked past the New York City Public Library. I'll have to go and take pictures another time because it was too dark to get much out of them. We also saw the Empire State Building all lit up in red, white and blue for memorial day and fleet week.

We watched the movie at an AMC theatre right off of 42nd street & Times Square. It was the most money I've ever paid for a movie ticket (I'd rather not say how much), but the movie was great and totally worth it. To get to the theatre, we had to ride up 3 stories of escalators. Then, when we got into the theatre it was HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE. Granted it was opening night, but I have never seen a theater that big in my life! The seats were super comfortable and we were sitting in great seats. There were about 15 of us BYU interns that went to the movie together. The engine in the basement of the theater broke so the air situation was a little less than desirable, but the great movie made it less noticeable. If you haven't seen XMen yet, but plan to make sure you stay after the credits. There is an important clip you need to see afterwards to get the full story. Highly recommended movie!

Anyway, time for bed. We've got to get up early in the morning for the Statue of Liberty. G'night!

Becca Foster, Lyndsey Payzant & Brandon Wells waiting for the movie to start. Lyndsey's ring needs to be re-sized so she's been wearing it on her pointer finger so it won't fall off.
